Today, Israeli Ambassador Mordechai Rodgold and Deputy Chief of Mission Maya Karmely-Sommer spent the morning at the Vienna BioCenter, discovering the campus’ innovative research and facilities.
The ambassador's delegation was first introduced to the Vienna BioCenter by Harald Isemann, Chairman of the Vienna BioCenter and IMP Managing Director, and guided through the lab of Elly Tanaka at the IMP by Postdoc Elad Bassat. The tour continued at the Next Generation Sequencing facility, part of the Vienna BioCenter Core Facilities, guided by Head of Facility Andreas Sommer. For a perfect finish, the delegation headed for the Start-Up Labs, where Life Science Austria Managing Director Philipp Hainzl presented the start-up incubator spaces and the a:head bio team gave impressive insights into the development of brain organoids.
"I am confident that this visit will be a starting point to strengthen interactions with life science institutions in Israel and to reach out to new partners for recruiting talent," says Harald Isemann. "The Vienna BioCenter and its member institutions are a lighthouse location for the life sciences, and we hope to increase our visibility in Israel and the rest of the world."
