FWF approves Cluster of Excellence with CeMESS lead

A research consortium led by Michael Wagner, deputy head of the Centre for Microbiology and Environmental Systems Science (CeMESS), succeeds in the competitive excellence programme of the Austrian Science Fund (FWF).

Under the keyword “Microbiomes Drive Planetary Health”, 30 principal investigators – including 19 VBC researchers – from seven Austrian research institutions are pooling their competencies. Together, they will address the most pressing and fundamental questions in microbiome research. Based on this knowledge, they intend to significantly advance the understanding of global change and solutions for a sustainable future.
