Scientists at the Gregor Mendel Institute (GMI) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences have discovered a new piece in the puzzle of how plants keep epigenetic information stable across generations. Their findings, published in Nature Plants, show that a newly identified protein helps plants faithfully pass on chemical “memory marks” that control which genes stay active or silent.
