International Birnstiel Award opens 2021 call

For the third time since 2019, the International Birnstiel Award for doctoral research in molecular life sciences has opened its call for nominations.

The targets doctoral students at an advanced stage of their dissertation or recent PhD graduates (this year for graduations back to 30 June 2020), whose research has contributed to outstanding discoveries in their respective field. It is named after the IMP founding director Max L. Birnstiel and presented annually by the IMP and Max Birnstiel Foundation.

Up to six awardees will attend an award ceremony at the Vienna BioCenter in autumn (if the pandemic allows), where they will receive a certificate, trophy and prize of 2,000 Euro. While any academic institution in the World except for Austria is entitled to submit a nomination, nominations are limited to only one per institution or PhD programme.
